Meriel is from nowhere in particular; California, North Carolina, Japan, Oklahoma, Mars, Charlottesville.
An Army-brat with parents based in Virginia, Meriel is the first in her family not to join the military or go to UVA since the American Revolutionary War. Rather than picking up a diploma or a machine gun, Meriel opted to pick up a hair-dryer. While still in high school, Meriel started apprenticing at a hair salon in Maryland. After moving to Richmond she began her career in the Fan on Main Street.
Maybe it’s because of her transient lifestyle, but Meriel is a devotee of the “wash & wear” school of hair. Meriel’s clients come to her because of her ability to put together highly fashionable cut and color services that get them in and out of the salon in a flash, and require minimal maintenance at home.
Meriel has spent the past 7+ years sharpening her skills as a hair stylist, with advanced color training at the Framesi Studio and the Graham Webb Academy in DC. In addition Meriel has spent time as an educator for Alterna and her work has appeared in numerous fashion shows, photo shoots, and various local publications.
